Join Life Centre manager Ruth with a range of experts and drama professionals as we explore overcoming your nerves about speaking in public. This 10 x 60 minute programme is designed to cover all the main bases which you may feel anxious about such as breathing, moving, speaking aloud, storytelling and so on. Each session will includes some (1 min at least) of individual performance in order to up your exposure and reduce fear but there is no pressure and this course is suitable for you even if you are too scared to speak at all prior to attending. The course will be broadly broken down into the following sections:-

Week 1. Intro session.

Week 2. Play not fear - reframing the experience of performing into being about fun and engagement rather than pressure.

Week 3. Drama-inspired games including speaking / responding and so on - this is aimed to build your confidence.

Week 4. Authenticity - is finding your voice or being ‘yourself’ important and how to navigate this in a public speaking setting such as meetings, Zoom calls and presentations - as well as in everyday life!

Week 5. Body language and confidence - exploring the relationship between how you stand, sit and move and your feelings.

Week 6. Breathwork and confidence - working with a breathwork expert to explore techniques that can give you energy, or calm you down as well as how to breath well and effectively when in situations that feel stressful.

Week 7. Movement and speech - Exploring how to how to speak on the move such as in a big presentation with confidence - ie navigating the stage - how to map out where to stand and do on.

Week 8. Narrative and presentation - how story telling can help us with public speaking or presenting information.

Week 9. Putting what we have learned together.

Week 10. Presentation week - while each week will include performance tasks, this final week offers the chance to share a pre-prepared short presentation.
